How engine tuning works on a petrol Mercedes ML-class

Factory petrol calibrations leave margin for poor fuel and hot climates. A remap tunes the ignition, fuelling and boost maps to make better use of that margin, which shows up as livelier throttle response and stronger acceleration.

Mercedes ML 230(-05) against other ML-class engines

Ranked by power gain against the other petrol ML-class engines (9 in total), the ML 230(-05) is 7th, 8 bhp below the ML-class petrol average of 28 bhp.

Across our whole catalogue the average petrol remap adds 27 bhp and 51 Nm, so this engine's 20 bhp and 35 Nm sits below that benchmark.
